Call For 2024 Paul Hanna Award and The TASA Excellence in the Field Award Lecture Proposals

The Texas Association of Schools of Art (TASA) is accepting proposals for two lecture opportunities:

  1. The prestigious Paul Hanna Award for studio artists and

  2. The TASA Lecture in Excellence in the Field Award is open to art historians, artists, designers, art theoreticians, critics, and philosophers

The Paul Hanna Lecture Award began in 1994 as the result of a generous endowment set up to honor one of TASA's founding members, Professor Paul Hanna (now deceased) of Texas Tech University. The Paul Hanna Award exists to provide a forum through which a selected studio artist can make an annual presentation for TASA.

We are also inviting proposals for the TASA Excellence in the Field Award from art historians, artists, educators, designers, art theoreticians, critics and philosophers broadly focusing on any of their scholarship interests that might appeal to TASA members.

The honorarium for each winning lecture is $500.00.

Selected speakers will be required to fund their conference accommodations and registration.

A TASA committee will review proposals. Acceptance and rejection notices will be emailed no later than Sept. 5.

If you are interested in being considered for The 2024 Paul Hanna Lectureship or The TASA Excellence in the Field Award, please submit your application/submission electronically at the form below by August 19, as follows:

Prepare one PDF file that contains:

  • Current Resume (2 pages max)

  • Brief Bio in paragraph form and self-portrait for press purposes

  • Brief description of your topic (250-500 words with relevant visuals)

  • 10 images of your current work, if applicable (include the following information with each image: artist name, the title of work, media, dimensions, and year completed).

  • Title your PDF exactly as such: Lastname_Firstname_PaulHanna.pdf (e.g., Doe_Jane_ PaulHanna.pdf) or Lastname_Firstname_Excellence.pdf (e.g., Doe_Jane_ Excellence.pdf)

  • Prepare your PDF entry as outlined above, no larger than 10MB.

Call For 2024 Breakout Session Leaders: Live Demonstrations/Workshop/Lecture/Student Outcomes Presentations

The Texas Association of Schools of Art (TASA) is accepting proposals for live Workshop Demonstration/Lecture/Student Outcomes Presentation opportunities:

The winning recipients will be assigned a 90-minute breakout sessions at the in-person conference. Presenters can opt to only use a portion of the allotted time. These Demonstration/Lecture/Student Outcome Presentation sessions will be for TASA faculty and student members and a broad audience should be considered.

A TASA committee will review proposals. Acceptance and rejection notices will be sent via email no later than Sept 5. Selected presenters will be required to fund their conference accommodations and registration.

If you are interested in being considered for the Live Demonstration/ Lecture/ Student project outcomes presentation opportunity, please submit your application/submission electronically at the form below by August 19, as follows:

Prepare one PDF file that contains:

  • Current Resume (2 pages max)

  • Brief Bio in paragraph form and self-portrait for press purposes

  • Brief description of your topic (250-500 words with relevant visuals).

    The additional supplemental content below is highly encouraged to best communicate your ideas to jurors. The quality of the provided supplemental video, slideshow and/or images will all contribute to the selection process.

  • Video: 15 minutes maximum, 1080 x 1920 or comparable resolution .mp4 or .mov format

  • Slideshow: PDF format

  • Images: up to 10 images that support your proposed presentation in .jpg format, up to 5mb per image.

The Texas Association of Schools of Art (TASA) is accepting proposals for breakout sessions that center around institutional art and design projects and initiates that that foster diversity and inclusion in the classroom, on campus, in the community, or in the creative field.

If you are interested in being considered for the Live Demonstration/ Lecture/ Student project outcomes presentation opportunity, submit your application/submission electronically at the form below by August 19, as follows:

Prepare one PDF file that contains:

  • Current Resume(s) (2 pages max)

  • Project Lead Bio(s) and self-portrait(s) for press purposes

  • Brief description of your project purpose, goals, execution and outcomes (400 words maximum with optional support visuals).

  • Prepare your PDF entry as outlined above, no larger than 10MB.

  • Title your PDF exactly as such: Lastname_Firstname_Cultural.pdf (e.g., Doe_Jane_ Cultural.pdf)

We need your videos. Now accepting video footage (up to 10min in length) covering current happenings, projects, activities, collaborations, and research in creative education. Cell phone footage is just fine!

Selected videos will be shown between conference sessions.

Call for Art: Faculty & Professionals Exhibition

ONE FOOT EXHIBITION - Every year at the TASA Annual Conference, conference faculty and professional attendees are invited to participate in the TASA One Foot Exhibition. As TASA’s One Foot Exhibition title indicates, submissions for this show must be limited to one square foot for 2D work or one cubic foot for 3D pieces.

Show Jurors: TBD

  • Submitted works must comply with the Texas Penal Code on Obscenity.

  • Work should be received by Info to Come

  • The exhibition will be on view Dates TBD

  • A reception for the show will be at Info to Come

  • The exhibition will close on Date and works will be shipped back the following week using the return address pre-paid labels sent.
